The ramblings of things that make me…um, well…me.
No, this post isn’t about one of my favorite Journey cover band. *looks around* Wait…did I say that out loud? It is however about something musical…kind of…
I have the honor of presenting you the cover of my friend, Author Steven Luna’s new YA (that’s Young Adult for those not familiar) book SONGS FROM THE PHENOMENAL NOTHING, which is…well…phenomenal!
Before I show you the awesomest cover you’ll ever see, let me tell you a little bit about why I’m so excited.
Most of you know Luna as the author of the JOE VAMPIRE series, but guess what? PHENOMENAL NOTHING has no…vampires!
That’s right…none…not a single one! Why? Uh…why not? Mr. Luna doesn’t want to necessarily be known as “the JOE VAMPIRE guy” forever. And after you get to read PHENOMENAL NOTHING you’ll agree that he’s more than just a pretty face on the back of a book cover.
I’m sure even Stephen King has days where he wishes he was Nora Roberts and tries his hand at writing a romance story instead of a clown filled, nightmare inducing scary book that gives The Book Hipster nightmares. I mean, seriously…could you imagine a romance book by Stephen King? I’d totally buy it! He’s probably got a desk drawer filled with heart covered, perfume scented notebook papers just waiting to see the light of day!
Oops…sidetracked…sorry…what was I saying? Right…no vampires!
Wanna know more about PHENOMENAL NOTHING? Here’s a little blurb:
Seventeen year-old guitar prodigy Tyler Mills has become lost in the aftermath of his mother’s death. Disconnected more and more from his father, he takes refuge from it all in two things: his music and his girlfriend. But everything changes with the chance discovery of his mother’s journal—and the long-held family secret within that could alter his life forever.
Doesn’t it sound fantastic? I’m telling you now…it is. I’ve already read it. Jealous? You should be! I think I’ll share a little snippet (and I mean little, cause you need something else to read, right?):
It’s just me and him. Him and me. A man I can’t comprehend, designated by the universe as my father but someone I prefer to call Tom, and a kid he can’t relate to but calls son anyway because he’s determined to try. I really wish he’d just call me Tyler.
He probably wishes I’d call him Dad.
But I’m not comfortable with that at this point.
Our differences and our lack of mutual understanding are the only things we seem to agree on. And even those get heated sometimes.
Seriously, it’s a miracle that we haven’t hurt each other yet.
I’m not sure how much longer we can hold out.
See? It’s great!
The unfortunate part is you can’t read the rest today. It has a tentative release date of September 3rd! It seems so far away, huh? Keep your eyes out and I’ll be sure to let you know when you can snag your copy…promise!
Well…that’s about it, I think…so I’ll let you go!
Wait? I forgot something…
Oh…right…the cover…duh! *giggle* You want to see that, don’t you?
In conclusion, Hipsters…SONGS FROM THE PHENOMENAL NOTHING by Steven Luna comes out soon, so keep your eyes open.
Before it comes out, though, I need to learn how to spell phenomenal without using spell check…sheesh!
